Cellular Narration, 2006
On September 15, 2005 we entered a mobile media competition with a proposal to build a software application called Cellular Narration. Through this process we fully explored the technical requirements and exhibited drawings of the applications architecture as part of the Urban FootPrints, Roundhouse Community Centre, Vancouver, BC, CA.

Cellular Narration is an event that asks people from around the world to send text messages/images of "HOPE" via wireless technology (such as Personal Digital Assistants (PDA's) and cell phones) on a specific day. The software application would schedule and filter these messages and send them to designated locations a.k.a. a web site, a large screen, etc. The concept of this application does what "two turntables, two DJ's and a microphone" did for hip hop culture in the 1970's. DJs and Vjs could mix the images and sounds on the fly - in a public location.

Why? To encourage collaborative authorship and amplify people's thoughts of "hope". I believe that "HOPE" above all sparks the possibility of transformation, inspires us to change and gives us faith that we can work together to create a sustainable world.

Exhibition Documentation While the Cellular Narration Prototype was exhibiting people could read about the concept and write their thoughts of hope on the wall beside the illustration. Every three days I would photograph the comments, wipe the wall clean and but up documentation of the last three days before. Each time I documented the wall I would make art from one of the comments.
